Shelter Dog Wouldn't Stop Growing, So the Vet Performed a DNA Test
Bringing Yuki Back
Kent and Nancy understood right away that they had to help when they heard about Yuki. So, they sent two of their workers to the shelter to get Yuki back for them. And in their heads, this was going to be just like any other day. They thought their trip would go smoothly because they were used to other shelters phoning them for help.
A Terrified Dog
The workers could see right away that Yuki was scared when they saw him. He thrashed around when he saw people, showed his teeth to warn them not to approach too close, and seemed to always glare at them with his little, yellow eyes. They felt bad for the animal on the other hand. It was evident that he was in trouble, after all.
A DNA Test
Even though they were worried, the crew was able to wrap Yuki the dog up and take him back to the Shy Wolf Sanctuary. Nancy and Kent saw the 8-year-old dog for the first time here, and as soon as they saw him, they knew he was unusual. They knew he wasn't a normal dog because he was so much bigger than any other dog they'd ever seen.
Trying to Train Him
They maintained a careful check on the shelter canine while they waited for the results. They were convinced that Yuki's prior owner had tried to train him, but they could tell that he was the kind of dog who didn't want to learn. He was afraid of others and didn't seem to be used to living with them. They did see a small difference in him, of course, the longer he stayed at the Shy Wolf Sanctuary.
A Terrible Accident
Yuki the dog hurt his knee out of the blue. Unfortunately, this injury couldn't be fixed with simple bed rest and medications. The dog from the shelter had to have five procedures to fix the injury, which seemed to set Yuki and the Shy Wolf Sanctuary back weeks. He had been rather comfortable with the staff before, but now he was much more territorial.
Better With Women
The staff maintained a tight eye on Yuki as he healed from his accident and had several surgeries. Even if they were far away, they were always watching him. That's when they figured out that Yuki didn't like males very much and would become the most upset when men came close to his cage. They saw that the dog was considerably calmer after they adjusted their approach and only let female staff members around Yuki.
