Shelter Dog Wouldn't Stop Growing, So the Vet Performed a DNA Test
Assessing His Condition
Even after the lorikeet woke up, it didn't leave Bee's side. She thought he might just fly away when he was well rested, but that wasn't the case at all. She started to fear that he truly was hurt, so she thought it would be better for him to check on his condition. She looked at his wing and then his whole body.
Still Not Quite Right
Bee had looked at the bird and decided that he was healthy and fit, but he still didn't fly away. He seemed cozy snuggled up to Bee's chest, but he still didn't feel quite right. He was still upset because his feathers were still ruffled and he continued fluffing them up. Bee really didn't know what to do or how to help the tiny fellow, though.
Joining Her Inside
Bee was definitely enjoying the snuggles, but there came a time when she had to get up and move. She couldn't stay on her terrace forever, and she realized she needed to grab some food and water. So, she delicately took the bird off of her and went into the kitchen. She had no idea what the lorikeet would do next, but she was sure it wouldn't follow her inside.
Building a Bond
Bee was overjoyed that this lorikeet had picked her, but she was also practical. She thought that once the bird got healthier, it would just leave her and never come back. She loved the time they spent together. They cuddled on the deck, looked around the house together, and spoke about everything and anything. It looked like the bird was having fun too.
Staying Put
Every day for the next week, Bee woke up thinking that day would be the day the lorikeet would fly away and leave her alone. But that day never came. The bird would spend time on the deck and in her house, and it was evident that he didn't want to leave her side. He felt safe with her, and they were quite close. She loved the bird just as much as the bird loved her.
Choosing a Name
Bee knew she had to name the bird if she wanted it to stay. But what name would she give him? She realized she had to come up with a name that fit his personality and his strange habits. One of those habits was bobbing his head when he was joyful or aroused. She didn't have to think too hard about it, so she chose the name Elvis for him.
